Camden County Prosecutor Lee A. Solomon and Mount Ephraim Police Chief Nicholas Salamone, Sr. reported that three female employees of the McDonalds Restaurant on the Black Horse Pike in Mt. Ephraim, NJ, were killed this morning when a late model Cadillac Sedan DeVille crashed into the restaurant. At approximately 4:20 A.M., Frank Nastasi, M/52 of Haddon Heights, NJ, was driving his vehicle on Prospect Ridge Blvd., when the vehicle crossed over the Black Horse Pike and crashed into the front windows of the restaurant. Investigators believe the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it crashed.
The women who died were: Cindy Molina, 45, of Mount Ephraim; Joann Bowen, 52, of Mount Ephraim; and, Nancy King, 49, of Audubon. Nastasi was admitted to Cooper Hospital where he is being treated for his injuries. Three other female employees survived the incident. Two of them were uninjured and one suffered minor injuries that were treated on the scene.
Autopsies were performed this afternoon by the Camden County Medical Examiner’s Office, the results of which are not available at this time. Presently, the investigation into the crash is continuing and no charges have been filed. Three people were killed Wednesday morning when a car veered off a road and plowed through a 24-hour McDonald’s restaurant in Mount Ephraim, N.J.
According to police, the accident happened around 4:20 a.m. The car was traveling on Prospect Ridge Boulevard when it crossed the McDonald’s front lawn, went through the front window, the Playland area and the seating area, and stopped near the rear drive-through window inside.
Police said three employees were dead, and the driver was in a local hospital with minor injuries.
The accident forced police in Camden County to close one lane of traffic in the area.
The cause of the crash remained under investigation.
